Alison Mackenzie AwardAlison Mackenzie's career in broadcast journalism had began in Birmingham in local radio, she was then head-hunted by bbc Radio 1’s programme in 1986 called news beat., Alison has been for the past 11 years Senior Reporter and Presenter for Carlton TV’s Central six o'clock News , situated mainly in Nottingham and was occasionally presented from Birmingham. Her career as a reporter has moved to ITN 10 o'clcok News and also Sky News. During this phase she has reported on murder trials and riots and also interviewed celebrities and foreign dignitaries, she was also the newsreader on duty at Broadcasting House in London on the very night the Lockerbie aircrash tragedy had occurred. Moving on to the Midlands, she did coverege on the kidnapping of baby Abbie Humphries and also the death of Princess Diana, has flown to Belize, Central America for a feature on the Worcestershire & Sherwood Foresters Army Regiment. She also covered the tragic shooting of 14 year old Danielle Beccan in st Ann's Nottingham of which she is still surpportive for which Alison won the ITV network's Reporter of the Year award and the award for News Feature of the Award in April 2005.
